MURALS
Our Murals
New York City (NYC) is the most diverse city in the world. But, there is still a lot of segregation and exclusion that keeps communities in the NYC feeling isolated. The Black, Latino, and immigrant communities of Queens especially feel this sense of separation as they are often excluded from opportunities and made to feel inferior. Most of these community members live precariously taking jobs that nobody else wants to do and navigating systems that do not prioritize them.
Our murals center the lives of these community members so they can reflect on what it means to belong in their neighborhoods, they can understand that they are welcomed, respected, and an essential part of our culture. These murals foster unity where there is separation, inspire laughs where there is sadness, and bolster communication where there is an imposed silence. The result is always stronger connections and increased awareness of cultural similarities.
How you can contribute
Our activism activities harness community power by bringing people together to celebrate their differences and strengthen their cultural bonds. We have shared our work throughout all of New York City, Mexico, Colombia, and Canada. Thank you for supporting our work.
We also accept non-monetary contributions in the form of volunteering, materials such as tote-bags, shirts, and community support whether in locating a venue or working with a school. We view all of our artivist activities as co-creations with the local community because in this work it takes a village to make meaningful change.
